Five villages will be developed as Adarsh Gram: BAU
Ranchi: Under the guidance of the state's Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperative Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey, five villages of freedom fighters of Jharkhand have been adopted by Birsa Agricultural University, Ranchi for overall agricultural development. The university will prepare a baseline survey of these villages and on its basis, prepare an action plan and submit it to the government.
In this sequence, on Friday, June 6, a team of scientists under the leadership of BAU Vice Chancellor Dr. SC Dubey organized various programs in Silgai village of Chanho block of Ranchi district.
At the beginning of the program, garlands were offered to the statue of martyr Veer Budhu Bhagat and trees were planted in the courtyard of the statue site. On this occasion, a farmer-scientist interface was also organized to increase awareness about modern agricultural techniques and government development schemes, in which about 100 farmers participated. In his address, Vice Chancellor Dr. Dubey said that Silgai village is a historical village of Jharkhand which has been following the ideals of martyr Veer Budhu Bhagat. The university will conduct a comprehensive study for the overall development of this village and on this basis prepare a three-year plan and submit it to the government.
The scientific team included Extension Education Director Dr. Rekha Sinha, Agricultural Extension Education Department Chairman Dr. BK Jha, member scientist Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Horticulture Scientist Dr. S. Sen Gupta and Genetics and Plant Breeding Scientist Dr. Arun Kumar.
After the interface program, the team of students assessed the resources, problems and expectations of the farmers through PRA exercise. On behalf of the villagers, Silagai village head Gudiya Kumari Oraon, Shivpujan Bhagat, Morha Oraon etc. participated. The student team was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Neetu Kumari. The student team included Priya Pallavi, Aastha Sinha, Shweta Kumari, Anoop Kumar, Alka Kumari and Siddharth Kumar.
