Devshayani Ekadashi on July 25: Lord Vishnu to Enter Yogic Slumber
Ranchi: Sanjay Sarraf, the provincial spokesperson for the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Seva Vibhag and the Shri Krishna Pranami Seva Dham Trust, stated that Devshayani Ekadashi will be observed with reverence and devotion on Saturday, July 25. On this day, Lord Shri Hari Vishnu enters a four-month period of *Yog-Nidra* (yogic slumber) in the *Kshir Sagar* (Cosmic Ocean of Milk), marking the commencement of *Chaturmas*.
He noted that Devshayani Ekadashi is a sacred festival that conveys the message of introspection, self-restraint, service, and spiritual practice. Special significance is attached to the worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, as well as fasting, chanting, charity, and *Satsang* (spiritual discourse) on this day. According to religious beliefs, observing this fast leads to happiness, prosperity, spiritual merit, and spiritual advancement.
Sanjay Sarraf remarked that in today's stressful times, this festival inspires spiritual growth, nature conservation, social harmony, and service to humanity alongside material progress. Through faith, devotion, and righteous conduct, an individual can make their life meaningful.
