Information on Government Schemes Reaches the Common People Through Legal Awareness Initiatives

Awareness Program Held in Mausi Bari Settlement of Malarkocha as Part of a 90-Day Campaign

Ranchi: Under the aegis of a 90-day legal awareness campaign, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Ranchi, organized a legal awareness program on Sunday at the Mausi Bari settlement in Malarkocha, Dhurwa. The objective of the program was to enable people to avail the benefits of government facilities by providing them with information regarding their rights, legal aid, and various welfare schemes.

During the program, PLVs (Para-Legal Volunteers)—including Suraj Munda, Nirmala Kumari, Seema Kumari, Amit Baraik, and Sanjay Oraon—along with others, provided the villagers in attendance with detailed information regarding various schemes of JHALSA (Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority), such as *Manavta*, *Atmanirbharta*, *Tripti*, *Nirogi Bhava*, *Chetna*, *Saathi*, etc. They explained that through these schemes, needy individuals are provided with free legal aid, counseling, as well as health and social support.

While spreading awareness against social evils such as child marriage, child labor, substance abuse, and witch-hunting, the PLVs also highlighted the utility of the National Lok Adalat. Additionally, information was provided regarding the 10 key schemes of NALSA (National Legal Services Authority) and the procedure for obtaining free legal services.

During the program, poor and needy individuals were also sensitized regarding old-age pensions, labor registration cards, and the benefits associated with them. Informing the attendees about the upcoming National Lok Adalat scheduled for September 12, an appeal was made to them to avail its benefits in the largest possible numbers.

Finally, the message of legal awareness was disseminated among the people through the distribution of pamphlets and leaflets by the DLSA PLVs.
