Trade boycott of Turkey and Azerbaijan is necessary: Chamber
Ranchi: Expressing opposition to Turkey and Azerbaijan openly supporting Pakistan during India-Pakistan tension, travel agents and tour operators related to travel and tour industry present in the Chamber building said in one voice that we will completely boycott trade and travel with those countries. In the joint meeting organized by the Tourism and Civil Aviation Sub-Committee of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce, travel agents and tour operators said that we will not book any packages and airline tickets for those two countries and will also encourage passengers to avoid traveling to those countries.
Tourism Sub-Committee Chairman Shailesh Agarwal said that trade and terrorism cannot happen together. We will not maintain any kind of trade relations with those countries which work against India. Civil Aviation Sub-Committee Chairman Shravan Rajgadhiya said that there are many such beautiful places in our country itself where one can visit during holidays. The citizens of the state should not go to those countries but travel in their own country.
Chamber President Paresh Gattani also appealed to the entrepreneurs of the state to boycott import-export from these two countries. It was said that it is unfortunate that when thousands of Turkish citizens were killed during the devastation caused by the massive earthquake, India was the first to send relief material, doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, medical equipment to Turkey. When the opportunity came, this country took advantage of India's goodwill and supported terrorism during the war. This attitude of theirs is a blow to India's sovereignty and national interests. Being patriotic, it is the duty of all of us businessmen that we should not do business with business organizations related to Turkey and Azerbaijan. We appeal to Indian citizens and businessmen to boycott travel to these two countries. The Chamber will give impetus to this campaign in coordination with all its tour operators and other stakeholders. These efforts of ours will affect the economy of these countries, especially their tourism and hospitality sector.
General Secretary Aditya Malhotra appealed to all traders to neither promote nor stock the products of these countries. The Indian government is also requested to ban trade with both the countries which are openly supporting Pakistan. Kaushal Mittal, a travel agent from Lohardaga who was present in the meeting, informed that all travel agents in Lohardaga are boycotting these countries.
