'No Justice from CID; CBI Probe is the Only Option' — Babulal Marandi on JPSC Issue

Leader of the Opposition and BJP State President Babulal Marandi has raised serious questions regarding the state government and the CID investigation into the alleged irregularities and corruption surrounding the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) 14th Combined Civil Services Examination. Speaking at a press conference held at the BJP state office, he stated that there is no expectation of justice through a CID probe in this matter; therefore, an impartial investigation into the entire episode should be conducted by the CBI.

Marandi alleged that instead of reaching the actual culprits, the state government is merely engaging in a cover-up. According to him, if Chief Minister Hemant Soren is completely innocent, he should have no objection to a CBI inquiry into the matter. He remarked that institutions like the JPSC bear the responsibility for the future of the youth, and if corruption takes root there, the state's administrative system will also be adversely affected.

He claimed that the objective of the CID probe is not to uncover the truth but to weaken the evidence. Marandi noted that while CID investigations have been conducted in several cases in the state previously, most of them failed to yield timely conclusions or result in effective action.

During the press conference, Marandi alleged that a bribe rate of up to ₹40 lakh is reportedly fixed to secure an officer's post in Jharkhand, with money being collected for the distinct stages of the preliminary exam, main exam, and interview. He demanded an impartial investigation into the entire affair and strict action against the guilty.

Marandi also demanded the registration of an FIR against former JPSC Chairman L. Khiangte and his subsequent arrest. He alleged that despite prior complaints regarding irregularities in the examination, no concrete action was taken.

Questioning the working style of CID Additional Director General Manoj Kaushik, he stated that the investigative agency must function impartially and act free from any form of political pressure.

BJP State Media In-charge Yogendra Pratap Singh and State Spokesperson Rafia Naz were also present at the press conference.
