Yuva RJD holds candle march to pay tribute to 17 students; demands accountability in the education system

On Sunday, the Jharkhand unit of Yuva Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) organized a candle march in Ranchi, proceeding from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to Shaheed Albert Ekka Chowk (Firayalal Chowk). The march was dedicated to the memory of the 17 students who died by suicide amidst the unfolding events surrounding the NEET-UG paper leak scandal. A large number of students, youth, social activists, and RJD office-bearers participated, carrying candles and paying tribute to the deceased students.
The march concluded at Shaheed Albert Ekka Chowk, where floral tributes were offered to the photographs of the deceased students, followed by the observance of a two-minute silence. Speakers remarked that the untimely deaths of these students were distressing for the entire nation and exposed serious flaws in the education system. They demanded transparency, fairness, and accountability within the educational framework.
In its address, Yuva RJD stated that the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan represents a victory for the democratic struggle waged by students and the youth. The organization noted that student unions and democratic groups across the country have played a pivotal role in advocating for educational reforms, adding that this struggle would continue until a fair and credible examination system is established in the country.
Condemning the alleged lathi-charge and mistreatment that occurred during student protests, the organization demanded strict action against the guilty officials and called for a fair, time-bound investigation into all paper leak cases, including the NEET-UG scandal.
Prominent figures present at the candle march included Yuva RJD Jharkhand State President Ranjan Kumar Yadav; State Vice-Presidents Anita Yadav and Shaukat Ansari; as well as Mantosh Yadav, Kshitij Mishra, Zafir Khan, Ramkumar Yadav, Ashutosh Ranjan, Ravindra Singh, Ravi Jaiswal, Kamlesh Yadav, Kishore Yadav, Lal Babu Rajak, Abhiraj Rai, and Vicky Yadav. A large number of party workers, students, youth, and social activists also participated in the event.
