Two historical postal books available in GPO Philately Bureau

 

Ranchi: Two new books published by the Department of Posts are now available to the general public in the Philately Bureau of GPO. Both these books are important works that preserve the memories related to Indian postal history and Mahatma Gandhi.

Bapu in Bihar: This book written by Anil Kumar, Postmaster General, Eastern Region Bihar Circle is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi's stay in Bihar, his movements, travels and his contribution. Along with this, it also includes a collection, description and pictures of all the postage stamps based on Gandhi ji. This book compiled by the Department of Posts is a precious heritage not only for history lovers but also for those interested in Gandhi ideology.

The Journey of Indian Postal Meter Marketing: This book is written by Dr. Ranjit Singh Gandhi, which provides detailed information about the oldest meter marks and seals used in the Indian Postal Department. This book depicts the historical journey of the development of postal marks used in various parts of the country including Kolkata. This is a research based and collectible work, which holds special importance for philately collectors.
