Ranchi: Amid various claims and discussions surrounding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, an appeal has been made to the people of Ranchi to rely on official information regarding matters related to the voter list.

The Mayor’s Office said that the electoral roll does not belong to any political party but is directly linked to the voting rights of every eligible citizen. Voters have been urged to verify their names, addresses, family details and other information in the electoral records and get any errors corrected through the prescribed procedure.

Referring to the clarification issued by the Election Commission regarding SIR, the office said that official information provided by the Commission should be given priority over claims, allegations and discussions circulating on social media.

Citizens have also been advised to check their old electoral records, particularly those related to the 2003 voter list. Where necessary, corrections should be made through the prescribed process.

Regarding Form-6 and the declaration associated with it, the public has been urged to understand the applicable rules and official procedure instead of relying on unverified information.

The Mayor’s Office stated that questioning is an integral part of democracy and both the ruling side and the opposition have the right to express their views. However, issues related to the electoral process should be discussed on the basis of facts and official information.

The people of Ranchi have been urged not to believe any claim merely because it appears on social media or is heard from others. Citizens should verify information through official sources and check their voter details.
