Ranchi, Jharkhand: A complex brain tumor surgery was successfully performed at Sadar Hospital, Ranchi, on 46-year-old Bhushan Singh, who had been suffering from the condition for nearly two years. The treatment and surgery at a private hospital was reportedly estimated to cost more than ₹8 lakh, after which the patient sought treatment at Sadar Hospital. The surgery was performed successfully under the leadership of neurosurgeon Dr. Vikas Kumar. The patient was diagnosed with a meningioma, a complex condition requiring careful removal of the tumor while protecting critical nerves, blood vessels and healthy brain tissue. The surgery was successfully completed with close monitoring, controlled anaesthesia and coordination between the neurosurgery, anaesthesia and OT teams. The patient’s condition is currently satisfactory and he is recovering under medical supervision. With the expansion of neurosurgery services at Sadar Hospital, procedures related to brain and spine trauma, brain tumors, and cervical and lumbar spine disorders are also being carried out. Sadar Hospital Deputy Superintendent Dr. Bimlesh Singh described the successful complex surgery as an important achievement in the expansion of neurosurgical services, while Civil Surgeon Dr. Amarendra Prasad said the availability of such advanced procedures would help provide specialist treatment to patients within the government healthcare system. The surgery involved Dr. Vikas Kumar and his neurosurgery team, anaesthesia specialists Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Jyotika, along with OT team members Amit, Suresh, Neeli, Sanju, Nandini, Kanchan and other staff.
