Deepika Pandey Singh, the Minister for Rural Development, Rural Works, and Panchayati Raj in the Jharkhand Government, inaugurated a 'Mega Legal Empowerment Camp' held at the Meharma Block Office premises by lighting a ceremonial lamp. Organized by the Godda District Administration and the Meharma Block Office, the camp aimed to raise awareness among citizens about their constitutional and legal rights and to ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach the last person in the social strata.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Deepika Pandey Singh stated, "Justice is not the exclusive privilege of any class, caste, religion, or gender; rather, it is an equal right granted to every citizen by the Constitution." She emphasized that the law becomes meaningful only when its benefits reach the most marginalized individuals in society. Noting that many people are unable to exercise their legal rights due to a lack of information, she highlighted that such camps serve as an effective medium to create awareness and facilitate easy access to justice.
The Minister affirmed that the state government's priority is to ensure that every citizen receives justice, dignity, and the benefits of government schemes without discrimination. To this end, the participation of various departments was ensured at the camp, allowing people to access information and benefits regarding multiple schemes under one roof.
During the camp, assets and sanction letters were distributed to eligible beneficiaries by various departments. A 'Grih Pravesh' (house-warming) ceremony was conducted for beneficiaries of the 'Abua Awas Yojana' (housing scheme). Loans were provided to women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under credit linkage arrangements. Additionally, beneficiaries received benefits related to ration cards, labor cards, and other welfare schemes.
With the aim of promoting education, bicycles were distributed to female students, while a significant step towards self-reliance was taken by providing tricycles to persons with disabilities. Free health check-ups and medical consultations were also provided at the camp, benefiting a large number of people. A large number of people—including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities—participated in this mega legal empowerment camp. They were provided with free legal advice, information regarding constitutional rights, and guidance on various government schemes.
