Jharkhand/Ramgarh M Bharat 24 News Live / Correspondent): A shocking case of fraud has surfaced in Ramgarh district, where a woman allegedly prepared a fake death certificate of her father to grab his entire property. The incident came to light when the son and daughter-in-law of the deceased began investigating the matter and discovered that the daughter herself had fabricated the document with the help of her husband.
An FIR has been registered at the Sadar Police Station on Monday. Rashmi Kumari, the daughter-in-law of the deceased, lodged a complaint against her sister-in-law Alka Sharma and her husband Rakesh Sharma, accusing them of forgery and fraud.
According to the complaint, Anil Kumar Sharma, father of Alka Sharma and father-in-law of Rashmi Kumari, passed away on April 27, 2022, in Chennai while undergoing treatment for cancer. However, Alka Sharma and her husband Rakesh Sharma allegedly managed to prepare a fake death certificate from Ramgarh Sadar Hospital, even though the death had occurred in Chennai.
Using the forged certificate, the accused couple transferred all movable and immovable assets, along with units of the ICICI Mutual Fund, in their names.
The entire fraud came to light through an RTI inquiry. Rashmi Kumari, who lives in Chennai with her husband Ranjan Kumar Sharma, learned about the fraud nearly three years later. She filed an RTI application at Ramgarh Sadar Hospital to verify the death certificate, only to discover that the certificate registration number D-2022: 10-90347-005216, dated May 17, 2022, had never been officially issued by the hospital authorities.
Following the revelation, the Ramgarh police have registered an FIR and initiated further investigation into the matter.
