Jharkhand/Dhanbad(M Bharat 24 News Live / Correspondent): A shocking incident took place on Sunday evening in the Krishi Bazaar Mandi complex under the Barwaddah police station area of Dhanbad. Local trader Shyam Bhimsaria was attacked by three unidentified miscreants who attempted to loot him. When he resisted, the criminals not only assaulted him but also opened fire to create panic.
The injured trader was immediately rushed to Jalan Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
According to information received, Shyam Bhimsaria was returning home after closing his refined goods shop when three bike-borne assailants stopped him and tried to rob him. When he resisted, the attackers hit him on the head and near his ear with the butt of a gun, leaving him seriously injured. Fortunately, the bullets missed him.
The incident caused chaos and panic in the market area. Other traders present nearby quickly took the injured Shyam to the hospital and informed the police.
Upon receiving the information, Barwaddah police and City SP Ritvik Srivastava reached the spot and began an investigation. Police have started scanning CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the attackers.
Following the incident, there is widespread anger among the trader community. Several traders alleged that criminals are growing bolder by the day, while police claims of safety remain only on paper.
Trader Jitendra Kumar said, “Shyam was closing his shop and heading home when the criminals ambushed him. They fired shots that luckily missed, but hit him with the gun butt, causing a severe head injury.”
Another trader added, “We were returning from a Chamber program when we heard that shots were fired at the Mandi. This is extremely worrying.”
Meanwhile, the Trader Association strongly condemned the attack and demanded the immediate arrest of those involved. City SP Ritvik Srivastava, who visited the site, assured strict action, saying — “The criminals will not be spared.”
