'Mera Resham Mera Abhiman 2.0' Gains Momentum in Sitapur; Focus on Boosting Farmers' Income

A stakeholder consultation meeting under the 'Mera Resham Mera Abhiman (MRMA) 2.0' campaign was held on Saturday at the Government Silk Farm in Parsendi, Sitapur. Organized jointly by the Central Tasar Silkworm Seed Organization (CSB-BTSSO), Bilaspur—under the Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India—and the Sericulture Development Department, Uttar Pradesh, the meeting featured comprehensive discussions on promoting silk production, increasing farmers' income, and expanding the use of modern technologies.
Addressing the event, Dr. Jai Prakash Pandey, Scientist-D at CSB-BTSSO, Bilaspur, stated that the objective of 'Mera Resham Mera Abhiman 2.0' is not merely to increase silk production but to strengthen the economic status of farmers, women, and youth by linking them to silk-based self-employment opportunities. He placed special emphasis on the use of quality seeds, scientific rearing techniques, disease management, and the effective implementation of departmental schemes.
Satish Kumar, SDO (Sericulture), provided information regarding the department's various schemes, training programs, and the technical and financial assistance available to farmers, urging as many farmers as possible to avail themselves of these benefits. Meanwhile, Aman Singh remarked that significant growth in farmers' productivity and income within the sericulture sector is achievable through regular training, public participation, and departmental coordination.
During the meeting, farmers, women's self-help groups, sericulture extension officers, and other stakeholders shared suggestions and concerns related to silkworm rearing, the availability of planting material, training, marketing, technical guidance, and infrastructure facilities. Experts assured them that necessary action would be taken regarding all the suggestions.
It was decided during the meeting that regular training sessions, technical consultations, field visits, and awareness programs would be continuously conducted to further strengthen sericulture development activities in Sitapur, thereby enabling more farmers to engage in silk-based livelihoods. Officials and staff of the Sericulture Department, progressive farmers, representatives of women's self-help groups, and other stakeholders participated enthusiastically in the event and pledged to take the 'Mera Resham Mera Abhiman (MRMA) 2.0' campaign to the masses.
