The government sees Bangladeshis as its own: Champai

Ranchi: Former Chief Minister Champai Soren, while reacting to the statement of Health Minister Dr Irfan Ansari on the Nagdi controversy, said that when the tribals and natives gathered to save their land in Nagdi, the Health Minister in the government started calling them outsiders.

He said that in reality, those who consider Bangladeshi intruders as their own, will see the real tribals and natives of Jharkhand as outsiders. Champai was talking to journalists in the Assembly Auditorium premises on Thursday.

He said that the cultivable land of Nagdi belongs entirely to the farmers there. This land was acquired in 1957–58 and the villagers paid rent till 2012–13. After the formation of Jharkhand state, the land of some raiyats was acquired in the ring road project and compensation was also given. But now the government is trying to stop the farmers. This will not be allowed to happen.

Champai said that by ploughing the land, the people of Nagdi have proved that this is their ancestral land and it will be saved at all costs. He warned that any attempt to suppress the voice of the tribals and natives will not be tolerated.

He announced to hold a Maha Darbar near the land marked for RIMS-2 in Nagdi. He said that about two lakh tribals will gather in the Maha Darbar. The Darbar is likely to be held in October. He said that through this Maha Darbar, the anti-tribal policies of the state government will be exposed. Champai Soren alleged that the present government is playing with the rights of the tribal society. Champai Soren said that farmers across the state will get justice against the eviction from their land.
