Drug Awareness Campaign Aims to Protect Youth from Addiction: District Judge, Ranchi

The has launched a comprehensive legal awareness campaign to protect young people from drug abuse. The campaign is being organized under the ‘DON–2025’ scheme of the and will run from 05 January to 12 January 2026.

The programme is being conducted under the guidance of the Chairman of the , Sujit Narayan Prasad, and under the leadership of the District Judge, Ranchi, Anil Kumar Mishra-1.

On the first day of the campaign, street plays were staged at the Civil Court premises and at to spread awareness against drug abuse. Following this, the District Judge flagged off a drug-free awareness vehicle from the Civil Court premises. Along with the awareness vehicle, judicial officers, advocates, Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and administrative officials took out a rally carrying posters and banners, spreading the message of a drug-free society among the public.

Those present on the occasion included Principal Judge, Family Court Pawan Kumar, Additional Judicial Commissioners Amit Shekhar and Yogesh Kumar, DLSA Secretary Rakesh Roshan, Registrar Prashant Kumar Verma, President of the District Bar Association Shambhu Prasad Agrawal, General Secretary Sanjay Vidrohi, Chief of LADCS Praveen Kumar Shrivastava, along with judicial magistrates, advocates, PLVs, court staff and officials of the district administration.

Addressing the gathering, the District Judge stated that the campaign has been organized with the objective of achieving the goal of a Drug-Free India, and protecting youth from substance abuse remains the top priority. District Bar Association General Secretary Sanjay Vidrohi said that society stands united against drugs and the judicial system is firmly standing with the community. He added that the slogan “Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs” is not just a slogan, but a philosophy of life.

Schedule of the 12-Day Campaign

  • 06 January 2026: Essay writing, debates, quizzes, short film competitions, poster, slogan and painting contests
  • 07 January 2026: Outreach awareness programmes in slums and rural areas, community meetings with parents and youth groups
  • 08 January 2026: Structured sensitization programmes in educational institutions
  • 09 January 2026: Legal awareness on the dangers of drug abuse, consequences under the NDPS Act, and the role of legal service institutions in prevention and rehabilitation
  • 10 January 2026: Online awareness and media engagement to expand digital outreach
  • 11 January 2026: Oath-taking and stakeholder coordination to strengthen collective commitment against drug abuse
  • 12 January 2026: Conclusion of the campaign on National Youth Day, drawing inspiration from the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and emphasizing values of discipline, character and service
