Cristiano Ronaldo to Retire Soon, Says “I’m in the Final Stage of My Career”

New Delhi: Portuguese and Al Nassr football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he is preparing to retire from football soon. The 40-year-old star admitted that his illustrious career is approaching its final chapter and that saying goodbye to the game will be an emotional moment for him.

In an interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, Ronaldo opened up about his retirement plans and life after football.

He said, “Soon… but I’ll be ready. It will be difficult, yes, I might even cry. I’m an emotional person. But I started preparing for my future when I was 25 or 26 years old, so I’m confident I’ll handle it well.”

One of the most successful players in football history, Ronaldo has scored 952 career goals so far. He said that after football, he wishes to dedicate his time to his family and personal interests.

“There’s nothing that can match the adrenaline of scoring a goal,” he said. “But everything has a beginning and an end. Now I want to spend more time with my family and children. I want to be with Cristiano Jr., as he’s at an age where kids can make mistakes. Mateo also loves football.”

Ronaldo also shared that he now enjoys playing paddle tennis with his friends.

Ronaldo began his professional career with Sporting Lisbon before moving to Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.

With Manchester United, he won three Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy, while with Real Madrid, he captured two La Liga titles and four Champions League crowns.

After leaving United in 2022, Ronaldo joined the Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. However, he still keeps an eye on Manchester United’s results, as his former Portuguese compatriot Rúben Amorim now manages the club.

Commenting on United’s current state, Ronaldo said, “He (Amorim) is doing his best, but no one can perform miracles. The team has talent, but some players need to understand what Manchester United really is. The club is still in my heart, but the truth is they’re not on the right path. Changes are needed — not just in the coach or players, but in the whole system.”

A five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo hinted that whenever he retires, it will mark the end of an era in the world of football.
