Nitin Gadkari inaugurated North India's first commercial electric truck battery swapping station

Haryana/Sonipat:  Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday inaugurated North India's first commercial electric truck battery swapping and charging station, built by Energy in Motion (EIM), at the Delhi International Cargo Terminal (DICT) in Panchi Gujran village, Sonipat district, Haryana. Union Heavy Industries and Steel Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy was also present on the occasion.

Nitin Gadkari said that this initiative is historic. India spends approximately ₹25 lakh crore annually on fuel imports from foreign countries.

If this amount can be saved through alternative energy sources, this money can be used for India's development work, and the dream of a developed India will be realized. He stated that the government aims to reduce logistics costs to single digits (less than 9 percent) by December 2026.

To achieve this, a multi-modal transport infrastructure is being developed through the coordination of road, rail, and waterways. This will provide relief to both traders and farmers in the transportation costs of produce and boost the rural economy.

The Union Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal is to make India a green energy hub. Farmers are directly benefiting from promoting agricultural energy production.

Permission to produce ethanol from maize has increased its demand and prices have more than doubled, resulting in direct benefits of ₹45,000 crore for farmers in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

He said that the BJP government believes in linking development with public welfare. Farmers, laborers, businessmen, and youth are all partners in this transformation.

On this occasion, HD Kumaraswamy stated that the government is moving rapidly toward making India a developed nation by 2047. He added that converting heavy vehicles to biofuels will reduce logistics costs and help control pollution. The world's future lies not in diesel and petrol, but in biofuels. The Prime Minister's Electric Drive Revolution scheme is encouraging the use and manufacture of electric vehicles in the country. Under the Make in India initiative, emphasis is being placed on making India self-reliant. On this occasion,

BJP State President Mohanlal Baroli, MLA Devendra Kadian, MLA Nikhil Madan, Former MP Ramesh Kaushik, former MLA Nirmal Chaudhary, Mayor Rajiv Jain, BJP District President Ashok Bhardwaj, SDM Pravesh Kadian, senior BJP leaders Devendra Kaushik, Azad Nehra, Neeraj Tharu, Pradeep Sangwan, Tarun Devidas, Energy in Motion Company MD Narendra Murukumbi, Dr. Vidya Murukumbi, JM Bakshi Group MD Dhruv Kotak, etc. were present.
