Jhaarkhand/ Ranchi: The National PR Conclave–2025, organized by Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), was inaugurated today at the Gangotri Convention Centre, CCL Headquarters, Ranchi. The two-day conclave marks a significant milestone in advancing dialogue, trust, and innovation in the field of public relations.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Shri Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR), Coal India Limited (CIL) as the Chief Guest. The event witnessed the presence of renowned film maker and ad guru Shri Prahlad Kakkar, veteran journalist Padma Shri Balbir Dutt, Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD, CCL, Shri Satish Jha, CMD, ECL, Shri Pawan Kumar Mishra, Director (Finance), Shri Harsh Nath Mishra, Director (Personnel), Shri Shankar Nagachari, Director (Technical–P&P), Shri Pankaj Kumar, CVO, Shri K.G. Suresh, Director, Indian Habitat Centre, Dr. Surbhi Dahiya, HOD (MBS), IIMC, and Shri Devvrat Singh, HOD, CUJ.
Officials from various Coal India subsidiaries, public sector enterprises, PR professionals, media representatives, and students from across the country also participated with great enthusiasm.
The inaugural session commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, presentation of mementos, and the rendition of Coal India’s corporate song. This was followed by a graceful Ganesh Vandana performed by children and the screening of “Khaamosh” — a short film produced by CCL’s Corporate Communications Department, depicting the evolving role of public relations in the modern era.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Vinay Ranjan, Director (Personnel), CIL, congratulated CCL for organizing the conclave and said that the initiative is a matter of pride for the entire Coal India family. He emphasized the need to counter negative narratives through strategic dissemination of positive stories and also highlighted the success of the joint initiative between CCL and the Government of Jharkhand under the JSSPS scheme.
Shri Satish Jha, CMD, ECL, underlined that “PR and advertising are distinct disciplines — while one builds relationships, the other fosters trust. Honest communication, empathy, and strategy together create a strong corporate reputation.”
In his address, Shri Nilendu Kumar Singh, CMD, CCL, stated that “Success is built on partnership and communication. In the age of Artificial Intelligence, information exchange has become even more critical. True communication happens when what is said is also understood.”
Ad guru Shri Prahlad Kakkar, in his keynote speech, inspired participants to never give up, saying, “Victory lies beyond fear.” He emphasized that an organization’s true identity is not only shaped by its work but by the trust it builds through public relations. He also urged organizations to engage with the youth, value their ideas, and involve them in decision-making for a progressive future.
Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh, former Press Advisor to the Hon’ble President of India and senior journalist, said that public relations is not merely a medium of information dissemination, but a bridge of trust between society and institutions.
Shri K.G. Suresh, Director, Indian Habitat Centre, highlighted the importance of quick and responsible communication in modern PR. Using short video presentations, he demonstrated how emotional and creative storytelling transcends linguistic and geographical barriers. He also discussed the importance of factual accuracy in the era of AI-driven communication.
Dr. Surbhi Dahiya, HOD (MBS), IIMC, stressed the significance of understanding target audiences and utilizing industry sources effectively, while Shri Devvrat Singh, HOD, CUJ, spoke about emerging opportunities in the fields of communication and public relations for students.
Shri Alok Kumar Gupta, HOD, Corporate Communications & PR, CCL, said that the conclave served as a confluence of ideas and will be remembered as a milestone event that provided new perspectives and directions to the PR community.
The event saw active participation from faculty members and students of various universities and colleges across Ranchi, who lauded CCL for providing an enriching platform to understand the evolving dynamics of public relations in the digital era.
This landmark initiative marks the first-ever National PR Conclave organized by CCL in Jharkhand and is envisioned to redefine the landscape of public relations.
