Jharkhand/Ranchi: On Sunday, Lord Indra was worshipped on the occasion of 'Karam Indra Jatra Mahotsav' by Indra Jatra Samiti at Daldali Jatra ground in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. During the program, various Khodas and groups mesmerized everyone with their charming presentation of folk culture and dance.
Officials of Rashtra Seva Foundation said that for the last 25 years, Indra Jatra Samiti, Daldali has been organizing a get-together on the occasion of Karam festival. This festival is dedicated to Karam Devta, who is considered a symbol of power and life. Traditional dances and songs are prominent in this festival, which reflect enthusiasm and faith.
They said that Jatra fair is held on Karam festival, where people come from far and wide as Khodas and groups playing traditional folk songs, folk dances along with traditional musical instruments like Mandar, Dhol and Nagada. Just as Tulsi plant has importance in Hindu customs. Similarly, the Karam tree has importance in the tribal society.
In this festival, people from various nearby areas participated in the 'Karam Indra Jatra' gathering in the form of Khoda and Toli, performing traditional folk songs, dancing, playing traditional musical instruments like dhol, nagada, mandar. On behalf of the committee, the guests honored the people in the groups by giving them four chairs and cash as a reward for their excellent performance.
On this occasion, unmarried tribal girls celebrate Java festival, in which they decorate a small basket with nine types of seeds, which gives the message of respect for nature and its conservation. This festival is celebrated for good harvest and increase in agricultural production. In this festival, people wish for happiness, prosperity and good health in their family and society.
In the ceremony, the patron of the committee, former chief of Ratu block Suresh Manda, president Amit Munda, treasurer Sonu Munda, Lalit Munda, secretary Birsu Munda and Umesh Munda were present as guests. National Vice President of Rashtra Seva Foundation Sunil Kumar Singh, social worker Abhishek Mishra, Ramashish Sharma, Ashok Dubey, Kalam Azad, Nand Kishore Mehta, Budhram Oraon, Ajay Rai, Rambharos Mahato, Sudhir Mahato were also present.
