Jaipur: The BJP government spent 1400 crores about eight years ago to give the shape of Dravyavati river, which had turned into a drain, to the river, but even after lakhs of efforts, this 47 km long river has not been able to come out of the form of a drain. However, in the meeting held on Monday, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has shown seriousness about the condition of Dravyavati river and said that it should be hoped that soon the days of this river will change. More than one crore rupees are spent every month on cleaning the Dravyavati river.
JDA has built five STPs of 170 MLD on Dravyavati river, but at present sewerage water is falling directly into the river through a large number of drains. In such a situation, JDA officials should take action on these and close them immediately as well as build STPs for water conservation. Due to politics and lack of will power of the officials, STP has not been built near Sushilpura culvert. JDA has proposed a 20 MLD STP at Sushilpura culvert. If this project comes to fruition, more than two lakh population will benefit. National Green Tribunal has ordered that sewerage cannot be released directly into rivers and drains. In the morning when there is excessive pressure in the sewer line, dirty water from the sewer line passing through Sushilpura falls directly into the river. In such a situation, it becomes difficult for the people living nearby to live. There was a plan to prepare the Dravyavati river for tourism and provide boat rides to domestic and foreign tourists in it.
There is no focus on cleanliness either
Tata Project Limited has the work of cleaning the river, but cleaning is not done regularly. Dirt definitely gets washed away in the rain. On other days, garbage is seen everywhere. Many times there has been a dispute between JDA and the company regarding payment. The people living on the river bank have to bear the brunt of this. At many places, the stench is so bad that it is difficult for people to live there. More than Rs 100 crore is to be spent in 10 years on the maintenance, cleaning and other items of the river.
Work is still incomplete at some places due to the case
The work of 47 km long Dravyavati river started in the year 2016 and was to be completed in 2018. About Rs 1400 crore was spent on this. Currently, work on the 3 km long Dravyavati river is pending. In this, farmers have stopped the work of 500 meters in Hasanpura, 750 meters due to court case and about two km in Goner.
If Kartarpura drain is made concrete, the condition of Dravyavati will improve
The water of Kartarpura drain goes directly into the Dravyavati river. Kartarpura drain is unpaved. Due to this, mud and garbage flows into the Dravyavati river along with the water. People living around the Kartarpur drain throw garbage directly, due to which heaps of garbage are piling up inside and around the drain. Efforts to cement the Kartarpur drain have been going on for the last 10 years. JDA has made a plan thrice, earlier also its drone survey was done by MNIT. In January, when JDA served notices to the encroachers, MLA Kalicharan Saraf raised the issue in the House. UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra had promised to conduct a fresh survey. After more houses came under the purview of 50 meter width, JDA is now getting the design made according to the total width of 30 meters. Kartarpur is about 4.8 kilometers long from Sawai Madhopur railway line culvert to Shiprapath Dravyavati.
