Ranchi: The Executive Committee meeting of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Jharkhand State Branch was held at IMA House, Ranchi, with participation of over 80 representatives from different districts. During the meeting, the formal announcement of IMA Jharkhand state elections was made and an election committee of former presidents was constituted to conduct the process.
The association passed a proposal demanding amendments to the Clinical Establishment Act to make it more suitable for small and medium hospitals, and decided to serve a one-month notice to the state government. IMA Junior Doctors Network and Medical Students Network also raised demands for an increase in interns’ stipend and revision of senior residents’ remuneration, citing long pending payments. If the issues are not resolved within the deadline, the association warned of phased protests followed by complete work boycott in private and government hospitals, while emergency services will continue. The meeting also emphasized strengthening the Medical Protection Act and sought justice and compensation for families of doctors who died during COVID duty.
