October 18, 2026: Maha Ashtami, one of the most auspicious days of Sharadiya Navratri, holds special religious significance for the worship of Goddess Durga. On this sacred occasion, devotees seek the blessings of the Goddess for happiness, peace, prosperity, and the well-being of their families.
According to Hindu religious beliefs, Goddess Mahagauri, the eighth form of Goddess Durga, is worshipped on the Ashtami Tithi of Navratri. Goddess Mahagauri is regarded as the symbol of peace, purity, compassion, and good fortune. Her appearance is radiant and serene. She has four arms and rides a bull. She holds a trident in one hand and a damaru (small drum) in the other, while her remaining two hands are positioned in the Abhaya Mudra, symbolising fearlessness, and the Varada Mudra, symbolising blessings and boons.
