Leader of Opposition Raises Questions Over Governance on X, Seeks Time-Bound Action on Eight Key Issues

Ranchi | M Bharat 24 News Live

Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi has launched a sharp attack on the Hemant Soren government over the operation of sand ghats, the suspension of holding tax collection, and delays in road construction projects. In a post on social media platform X, Marandi claimed that 288 out of 302 auctioned sand ghats in the state remain closed. He questioned why sand is still not readily available to the public despite the auction process and demanded accountability for delays in obtaining the necessary approvals. He alleged that the situation was affecting the availability of sand and called on the government to clarify the reasons behind the pending clearances.

Marandi also raised concerns over the suspension of holding tax collection and delays in road projects. According to him, holding tax collection has been stopped since August 21, while the status of an alternative arrangement remains unclear. He also highlighted road projects worth ₹1,410 crore in Ranchi, alleging that delays are causing daily inconvenience to the public. He demanded that the government disclose the revenue losses resulting from the suspension of tax collection and publish the current status of the pending infrastructure projects.

The Leader of Opposition has sought time-bound action on eight key demands from Chief Minister Hemant Soren:

1. Status of Sand Ghats: Publish the reasons why 288 out of 302 auctioned sand ghats remain closed, along with a list of pending approvals.

2. Approval Process: Set a clear timeline for environmental clearances, Gram Sabha permissions, and other statutory procedures.

3. Availability of Sand: Ensure regular supplies from legally operated sand ghats, reasonable prices, and transparent transportation.

4. Restoration of Holding Tax Collection: Immediately resume collection, which has reportedly been suspended since August 21, and announce a timeline for implementing the new system.

5. Revenue Losses: Make public the revenue losses caused by the suspension of holding tax collection and details of the proposed recovery measures.

6. Review of Road Projects: Release a progress report detailing the current status of road projects worth ₹1,410 crore in Ranchi.

7. Public Disclosure: Make monthly progress reports on sand ghats, holding tax collection, and road projects available on a public portal.

8. Action Against Those Responsible: Review pending cases and take appropriate action against responsible officials and contractors.

Marandi urged the Chief Minister to ensure accountability rather than relying solely on officials to manage these issues. He alleged that the closure of sand ghats, the disruption of tax collection, and delays in road projects were adversely affecting the public. He reiterated that the BJP would not compromise on issues concerning public welfare and demanded clear answers and accountability from the state government.
