Ranchi, January 18, 2026: In view of the cold wave warning issued for Jharkhand for the next few days, the Ranchi district administration has ordered a change in school timings. The order has been implemented under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita on the directions of Ranchi Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Mr. Manjunath Bhajantri.
As per the order, in all private and central schools operating within Ranchi district, teaching for students from KG to Class 6 will be conducted only after 9:00 AM from January 19, 2026 (Monday) to January 24, 2026 (Saturday).
This decision has been taken on the basis of a special bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Jharkhand, Ranchi, to prevent any adverse impact of cold weather on young children.
The district administration has directed all school managements to ensure strict compliance with the order.
