BSNL Jharkhand Announces New Digital Initiatives and Special Offers on Independence Day
Ranchi, August 18, 2026: On the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Jharkhand Telecom Circle announced several new digital initiatives and special offers for customers. During a press conference, BSNL highlighted its financial performance, 4G network expansion and plans to provide improved digital services to customers.
The press conference was attended by BSNL Jharkhand Telecom Circle CGMT Vipul Agarwal, PGM (CM-S&M) Sanjeev Verma, PGM (CFA) Ashish Kumar Das, DGM (Operations) Sunil Kumar Rana and GM (BN&EB) Upkar Kumar Kedia.
Jharkhand Circle Records Strong Financial Growth
During the financial year 2025-26, BSNL Jharkhand Circle recorded a 9 per cent increase in total income compared with 2024-25. During the same period, EBITDA registered a significant growth of 134 per cent.
The Jharkhand Circle was appreciated for this performance during an all-India review meeting held in New Delhi on April 23, 2026.
The strong performance continued in the first quarter of financial year 2026-27. Total income increased by 51 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The circle was again appreciated for exceeding its quarterly business targets during a meeting held on July 13, 2026.
₹1 Freedom 2.0 Offer
As part of its Independence Day initiatives, BSNL has introduced the ₹1 Freedom 2.0 offer for new customers.
Under the offer, customers will receive 1 GB of data per day, 100 SMS per day, unlimited voice calling and 24 days of validity.
BSNL said the offer is aimed at providing new customers with an affordable opportunity to experience its 4G network. The company’s 4G network is based on indigenous technology and is planned to be upgraded to 5G in the future.
4G Network Expansion in Jharkhand
BSNL has established 1,564 sites in rural and remote areas of Jharkhand. Of these, 816 sites are located in Left Wing Extremism-affected areas and have been upgraded to 4G.
Under the 4G Saturation programme, 748 sites have been commissioned in villages where telecom connectivity was previously unavailable. The expansion is expected to improve access to online education, e-commerce and other digital services in rural areas.
In urban areas, 1,322 sites have been upgraded to 4G under Project IX.2.
BSNL will conduct special sales camps in rural areas of Jharkhand over the next month to extend the benefits of the Freedom Recharge Coupon to more citizens.
The company aims to increase the average number of customers per tower from around 30 currently to 100 within the next three months.
Under the financial year 2026-27 expansion plan, BSNL proposes to establish 250 additional sites in urban areas and 95 new sites in rural areas. In addition, 331 CAT-A DBN sites will be upgraded to CAT-B, enabling them to support both the 700 MHz and 2100 MHz bands.
₹2,399 Plan Gets 47 Additional Days
BSNL has announced 47 additional days of validity on its ₹2,399 annual prepaid plan. With the special offer, the total validity of the plan will increase from 365 days to 412 days.
The special offer will remain available until September 12, 2026. Customers will continue to receive the existing benefits of the plan along with the additional validity.
Fibre Freedom Plan at ₹1,111
BSNL has launched the Fibre Freedom Plan at a special introductory price of ₹1,111 per month. The plan offers internet speeds of up to 200 Mbps, 5,000 GB of monthly data and access to more than 25 premium OTT platforms.
The company said the plan is aimed at providing customers with high-speed internet and digital entertainment services through a single connection at an affordable price.
New BSNL Selfcare App Launched
BSNL has launched the “BSNL Selfcare New” app to make digital services more convenient for customers. The application is available on both Android and iOS platforms.
Through the app, customers can access prepaid recharge, postpaid and landline bill payments, complaint registration and tracking, DND management, payment history, Fibre connection booking, AI chatbot and voice search services.
Customers can also manage multiple accounts through the app and access BSNL Entertainment TV.
Around 500 Live TV Channels Available Free
BSNL mobile customers can now access around 500 live TV channels free of cost through the new Selfcare App. The BSNL Free Entertainment TV service is powered by Tango TV.
The service provides access to a range of live television channels along with on-demand entertainment content, allowing customers to enjoy digital entertainment through their mobile phones anytime and anywhere.
