Board will be formed for nomadic castes: Yogi Adityanath

CM Yogi's big announcement in Vimukta Jati Diwas celebrations

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a big announcement while participating in the Vimukta Jati Diwas celebrations organized for the welfare of Vimukta and nomadic castes on Sunday. He said that the state government will form a special board for the welfare of nomadic and Vimukta castes. Along with this, work will also be done on the plan to provide colonies and houses to the people of these castes. Yogi Adityanath, while wishing everyone on Vimukta Jati Diwas, said that castes like Nat, Banjara, Bavariya, Sasi, Kanjar, Kalbelia, Sapera and Jogi are the brave castes of the country who fought as warriors during foreign attacks. He said that these castes fought with indomitable courage sometimes against the Mughals and sometimes against the British.

The Chief Minister said that the British, fearing their valor, implemented the Criminal Tribes Act in the year 1871 and declared these castes criminals from birth. Even after independence, this stigma remained on them till 1952. Due to the efforts of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, these castes got freedom from this on 31 August 1952. He said that Vimukta Jati Diwas reminds of that historic moment when these communities understood the meaning of independence. Yogi said that in the last 11 years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central and state governments have been working with full honesty for the welfare of the freed and nomadic castes. Many schemes have been implemented in the state in the direction of education and housing. He told that Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas are being run in 9 districts, two residential ashram system schools have been started, while 101 residential schools are already running. Here the government is making arrangements for the students from living, food to uniforms. Apart from this, special facilities are also being provided to the children of freed castes in 264 government scheduled caste hostels.

Giving the example of Vantangiya Samaj, the Chief Minister said that his government gave them the status of revenue village, gave the right to vote, built houses, schools and hospitals for them. Similarly, schemes were also run for castes like Musahar, Kol, Tharu, Gaur, Chero and Saharia. Kumhar, Nishad and Rajbhar society have also been benefited by government schemes.

He said that now Vimukta and nomadic castes will also be given the facility of land lease and voting. In this regard, he told Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun from the stage itself that a board should be formed for nomadic castes. He assured that just like the model of Shamli and Vantangiya was made, in the same way schemes will be implemented for nomadic castes. The Chief Minister also said that many young men and women belonging to nomadic castes have been selected in the police recruitment of the state, which is a proof that the government is giving equal opportunities to all sections without discrimination.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Sanjay Nishad, Social Welfare Minister Asim Arun, Narendra Kashyap, Sanjeev Gaur, Baijnath Rawat, Bechhan Ram, Jeet Singh Kharwar, Nomadic Work Area Head Rajesh, Vishwanath Prasad, YP Singh, Bhagwan Nath, Dr. Shobha Chaudhary and many other dignitaries were present.
