It is known that brain tumor is a serious brain disease. Tumor can sometimes be both cancerous or non-cancerous. World Tumor Day is celebrated on 8 June. On this occasion, Dr. Arun Kumar, Senior Neuro Surgeon of Paras Hospital HEC said that every year on June 8, we celebrate World Brain Tumor Day so that people can be made aware and educated about brain tumors. Brain tumor, also known as brain rasoli in Hindi, is caused by uncontrolled cell growth in the brain. It is of two types. The first tumor can be non-cancerous and the second can be cancerous. Not every brain tumor is cancerous. Only one-third of brain tumors are cancerous. The remaining two-thirds are non-cancerous. Brain tumors occur in two main ways. One is a tumor that develops primarily in the brain and the other is a brain tumor that comes to the brain from other parts of the body, which is called secondary brain tumor or metastasis.

Dr Arun said that symptoms like headache, dizziness, vomiting and blurred vision should not be ignored, as these can be signs of brain tumor. Timely examination and treatment can save lives. If a person is having frequent headaches in the morning and also vomiting, then perhaps that person may be suffering from brain tumor. In some cases, brain tumors can cause personality changes or difficulty in mental function. There is trouble in seeing. If you experience symptoms of brain tumor in the head, contact a doctor immediately.

Brain tumors are identified through radiology, MRI, CT scan etc. to find out if there is any lump in the brain or not. Surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy can be used for treatment, depending on the type, size, and location of the tumor. By looking at the lump, we determine whether the lump is non-cancerous or cancerous. Some symptoms are also detected during examination. There are many types of brain tumors, which can be classified on the basis of their type, location, and rate of growth.

Dr. Arun said that if your parents have a brain tumor, then there is a possibility that their son or daughter may also have a brain tumor in the range of five to 10 percent. Using a mobile phone does not cause brain tumor. The treatment for brain tumor is surgery. If surgery is not possible, then it can also be cured with radiation and chemotherapy. The life of a patient with a brain tumor depends on his tumor. The size of a brain tumor ranges from very small to very large. Some brain tumors are found when they are very small because they cause symptoms that you recognize immediately. Other brain tumors become very large before they are found. Some parts of the brain are less active than others. If a brain tumor starts in a part of the brain that is less active, it may not cause symptoms immediately.

Manas Labh, Marketing Head, Paras Hospital HEC said that treatment for a serious disease like brain tumor is available at Paras Hospital HEC. Hundreds of patients have been treated with the efforts of expert doctors and their team.
