Eco-tourism in Jharkhand Set to Soar; Identified Mining Areas to Become Tourist Destinations


Ranchi: The state government is preparing to develop eco-tourism on a large scale to give tourism in Jharkhand a new identity. During a review meeting of the Department of Tourism, Art-Culture, Sports, and Youth Affairs at the Jharkhand Mantralaya, Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed officials to ensure the planned development of the state's natural, religious, and historical sites.


The Chief Minister stated that Jharkhand holds immense potential for eco-tourism. Tourism circuits will be developed across various districts, including Seraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, Giridih, Latehar, Hazaribagh, and Ranchi. An action plan will also be formulated after exploring eco-tourism possibilities in identified underground coal mining areas of the state.


Plans for a Glass Bridge in Netarhat and a Ropeway in Patratu


The Chief Minister directed officials to accelerate the construction of a viewpoint in Patratu Valley and to formulate plans regarding the feasibility of ropeways at tourist sites. Emphasis was placed on developing a glass watchtower or glass bridge in Netarhat, the Koel Viewpoint cottages, trekking facilities, and eco-tourism amenities at Lodh Falls.


Preparations for a Sports University in Jharkhand


During the review of the Sports Department, the Chief Minister directed officials to prepare an action plan for establishing a sports university. He stated that athletes who win medals at national and international levels should receive respectable support. He also called for the creation of incentive schemes for financially disadvantaged athletes and the development of a database of players.


Registration of 12,000 Artists; Strong Cultural Network to be Built


The review of the Art and Culture Department revealed that approximately 12,000 artists have been registered in the state so far. The Chief Minister emphasized the need to verify the artists' credentials and provide them with better training and opportunities at the national level.


The Chief Minister remarked that tourism development would strengthen Jharkhand's cultural identity and generate new opportunities for employment and self-employment at the local level. He directed that all tourism projects be completed on time and with high quality.


Several senior officials, including Departmental Minister Sudivya Kumar, Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, and Departmental Secretary Mukesh Kumar, were present in the meeting.
