Municipal corporation election allowance pending; Home Guard Welfare Association threatens agitation; DG says payment will be made as soon as funds are received
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Home Guard Welfare Association has demanded immediate payment from the government regarding the pending allowances of Home Guard personnel who performed duty during the municipal corporation elections. The Association states that despite a considerable amount of time having passed since the elections concluded, a large number of personnel have yet to receive their allowances.
Rajiv Kumar Tiwari, the Association's State General Secretary, said that Home Guard personnel serve various state departments with utmost dedication and responsibility, yet their honorariums and allowances are not paid on time. He noted that, in addition to the municipal election duty, the honorariums of personnel working in several other departments—including the Health Department—have also been pending for a long time.
He alleged that while warnings of disciplinary action are issued for absence during duty, the concerned departments fail to show seriousness regarding payments. Demanding that the government ensure the prompt payment of all outstanding honorariums and allowances, the Association warned that a state-wide agitation would be launched if the issue is not resolved quickly.
Meanwhile, a correspondent from M Bharat 24 News Live spoke to M.S. Bhatia, the Director General (DG) of Home Guards and Fire Services, regarding this matter. The DG stated that a letter has already been sent to the Home Department concerning the payment of allowances for municipal election duty. All pending honorariums and allowances will be disbursed as soon as the funds are released by the Home Department.
