Questions Raised Over Encroachment at Agricultural Produce Market Committee; FJCCI President Advises Consultation with Technical Team
Ranchi: The debate surrounding alleged encroachment within the premises of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee has intensified. The Market Committee claims that out of approximately 900 shops operating within the complex, 177 shopkeepers have encroached beyond their designated boundaries. Conversely, the concerned shopkeepers are justifying their constructions by citing reasons related to safety, convenience, and business requirements.
FJCCI President Aditya Malhotra was consulted regarding this issue. He was asked that if the extensions undertaken by the shopkeepers are indeed necessary and legitimate for safety reasons, why are they being categorized as encroachments? Furthermore, the question was raised that if the extensions carried out by these 177 shopkeepers are deemed appropriate, why should the remaining hundreds of shopkeepers not be granted permission for similar facilities or extensions?
In response, Aditya Malhotra stated that his technical team should be consulted to understand the technical nuances of the matter and to clarify the actual situation. He emphasized that an assessment of the allegations leveled by the Market Committee—vis-Ã -vis the claims made by the shopkeepers—is possible only on the basis of technical facts.
This ongoing dispute regarding encroachment at the Market Committee has now raised several pertinent questions. The shopkeepers maintain that the constructions they have undertaken were executed with due consideration for safety and operational business requirements, whereas the Market Committee regards these as encroachments. Under these circumstances, the true status of the matter can only be clarified based on technical reports and the factual submissions of the respective parties involved.
