Ranchi Civil Court Also Imposes Fines Ranging from ₹15,000 to ₹35,000

Ranchi News: The court of Additional Judicial Commissioner-18, Ranchi Civil Court, has sentenced four accused—including one woman—to rigorous imprisonment in the illegal arms and explosive materials recovery case. The court found Nabeel Ansari, Jahir Ansari, Mubarak Ansari, and Raziya Khatoon guilty under various sections and awarded them sentences ranging from 8 to 10 years.

All convicts were produced before the court via video conferencing from jail.

  • Female accused Raziya Khatoon has been sentenced to 8 years in prison and fined ₹15,000. In case of non-payment, she will have to undergo an additional 18 months of imprisonment.
  • Nabeel Ansari, Jahir Ansari, and Mubarak Ansari have been awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each, along with a fine of ₹35,000 each. Failure to pay will result in two and a half years of additional imprisonment.

The court also punished all four convicts under Arms Act Sections 25(1-A)/35, 25(1B)(a)/35, and Section 26—awarding 8 years, 2 years, and 5 years of imprisonment, respectively, along with ₹5,000 fines under each section. Non-payment of these fines will lead to an additional six months of imprisonment.

Additionally, the three male convicts—Nabeel, Jahir, and Mubarak—have been sentenced to 10 more years under Sections 3 and 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, along with a fine of ₹10,000 each. Non-payment will attract six months of simple imprisonment.

Case Linked to Major 2018 Crackdown

On 26 March 2018, a team led by the Kotwali DSP conducted a raid in Hindpiri, Ranchi. The four accused, who lived as tenants in the house of one Mustaq, were arrested. During the search, police recovered one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, six country-made pistols, 56 live cartridges, and two packets (250g each) of explosive substances from a sack inside the house.
