Government Trying to Cover Up Failure of Health System: Shobha Yadav

Ranchi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state spokesperson Shobha Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the state government and Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari regarding the state of Jharkhand's healthcare system. She alleged that the government is attempting to mask the dismal state of health services and is diverting public attention from the real issues.

Shobha Yadav stated that if there were serious irregularities in the '108' ambulance service—necessitating the filing of an FIR against the agency and the issuance of show-cause notices to officials—it raises serious questions about the government's functioning. She emphasized that the Health Department is the responsibility of the government and the Health Minister; therefore, the government cannot evade accountability simply by taking action against the agency or officials.

She alleged that ambulances are not available on time in the state, hospitals lack resources, posts for doctors and healthcare workers remain vacant, and health services are failing to reach rural areas effectively. She argued that the government should have planned to improve the system proactively rather than presenting ad-hoc decisions made after a crisis as achievements.

The BJP spokesperson demanded that the government make public the details regarding the duration of the disruption to the '108' ambulance service and the number of people affected by it. She also sought information on the current status of selecting a new agency and procuring new ambulances, as well as the timeline for fully restoring the healthcare system to smooth operation.

Shobha Yadav stated that healthcare services constitute the most significant responsibility of any government. The public requires timely ambulance services, better hospitals, adequate medicines, trained healthcare personnel, and an effective health system—not political rhetoric. She urged the government to ensure lasting improvements in health services by operating with transparency and accountability.
