Fake Naxal Surrender Case: High Court Expresses Strong Displeasure, Seeks Detailed Reply in One Week — DGP Tadasha Mishra Appears in Court

Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court on Monday heard the much-discussed Fake Naxal Surrender case. During the hearing on the PIL filed by the Jharkhand Council for Democratic Rights, the division bench of Chief Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan and Justice Rajesh Shankar adopted a strict stance and questioned the State over continued inaction.

As per the court’s earlier order, Jharkhand DGP Tadasha Mishra was present in person. The bench expressed sharp displeasure, asking why—despite a 2021 order—no concrete action had been taken by the State Police or the Government. The court observed that such a sensitive matter was being taken lightly and objected to the filing of an affidavit by a lower-ranked officer.

DGP Mishra apologised before the court and requested additional time to submit a detailed explanation. Granting time, the court fixed the next date of hearing for 15 December, warning that any further negligence would not be tolerated.

The case pertains to the 2014 incident in which 514 students of Digdarshan Institute were allegedly shown as Naxals and made to surrender fraudulently — a matter on which action is still pending.
