Directive to include all youths turning 18 by October 1, 2026, in the voter list

Jharkhand's Chief Electoral Officer, K. Ravi Kumar, has called upon all higher and technical educational institutions in the state to launch a special campaign to register all eligible youths—those who will attain the age of 18 by October 1, 2026—in the voter list. He emphasized that no eligible Indian citizen in the state should be left out of the electoral roll.
Speaking at a meeting held via video conference from the Election House on Monday with principals and directors of universities, colleges, and technical institutions, he stated that the campaign to add new voters via Form-6 would be intensified following the publication of the draft voter list on August 5.
The Chief Electoral Officer urged all educational institutions to organize voter registration camps, help desks, and awareness programs on their campuses so that all eligible students—whether they have already turned 18 or will do so by October 1, 2026—can be enrolled in the voter list.
He informed the attendees that the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has provided voter awareness publicity materials to all districts. Educational institutions should utilize these materials in coordination with the District Election Office to encourage students to register as voters.
Emphasizing the need for a widespread public awareness campaign via social media, K. Ravi Kumar stated that all institutions must play an active role in ensuring that every eligible Indian citizen is included in the voter list while preventing the inclusion of any ineligible persons or foreign nationals.
The meeting was attended via video conference by Higher Education Director Sudhir Bada, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Subodh Kumar, Technical Education Department Director George Kumar, Deputy Electoral Officer Dheeraj Kumar Thakur, Deputy Electoral Officer (Lohardaga) Sanjay Kumar, and Assistant Electoral Officer Sunil Kumar Singh, along with principals and directors from various higher and technical educational institutions across the state.
