Hemant Soren Must Apologize to Traders: Aditya Sahu

Jharkhand/East Singhbhum: Reacting sharply to Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s recent remarks, BJP State Working President and Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu demanded that the Chief Minister apologize to the traders of Jharkhand.

Addressing a press conference at the BJP election office in Ghatshila, Sahu said that the statement made by Hemant Soren during his speech at Musabani on Monday was extremely objectionable and insulting to the entire trading community. He said the Chief Minister’s comment — “Traders first hold your feet, then grab your neck” — is a disgraceful remark that reflects arrogance of power and deep disrespect for hardworking businessmen.

Sahu stated that Jharkhand’s traders have always stood by society in every crisis — whether during the COVID-19 pandemic or during economic hardships. “When the government was inactive, traders were distributing ration, medicines, masks, and even umbrellas to the poor,” he said. “Using such derogatory language for such a service-oriented community is shameful.”

He warned that if the Chief Minister does not apologize, the traders of Jharkhand will be forced to take to the streets in protest.

The BJP leader alleged that rampant loot of sand, coal, iron, and land is going on under the current state government. “Sand worth ₹500 is being sold for ₹5000 under the protection of the mafia,” he said, adding that “illegal mining and land grabbing are flourishing under Hemant Soren’s patronage, with the help of the administration and police.”

Sahu said that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working with the spirit of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” (together for everyone’s growth and trust), Hemant Soren is busy dividing society and insulting hardworking people.

He further said that traders in Jharkhand are living in fear, with rising cases of extortion, threats, and criminal intimidation — all allegedly happening under the protection of the ruling dispensation. “If the administration were efficient, the trading community could work without fear,” he added.

Dismissing the allegation that the BJP is a party of traders, Sahu said, “The trading community is the backbone of society — they create jobs and help the poor.”

Comparing Hemant Soren to Champai Soren, Sahu said, “Champai Soren worked for the people, while Hemant Soren insulted his own colleague for the sake of power. Today, he is surrounded by mafias and has distanced himself from the public.”

Sahu asserted that the BJP stands firmly with the people and the trading community and will launch a decisive fight against the mafia-driven government in Jharkhand.

Those present at the press meet included Shivcharan Agarwal, Sanjay Agarwal, State Media Co-incharge Ashok Baraik, District Minister Rahul Pandey, and Media In-charge Sujan Manna.
