Baloo’s Illegal Mining & Lifting Must Stop: DC Dr. Tarachand

Mining Task Force meeting held at Lohardaga Collectorate

Lohardaga, 15 Nov 2025:

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tarachand on Friday chaired the district-level Mining Task Force meeting at the Collectorate Conference Hall and issued strict directions to curb illegal sand mining and lifting across Lohardaga district.

DC instructed all Circle Officers and Police Station in-charges to take immediate action against unauthorized sand extraction under their respective jurisdictions. He warned that if illegal mining causes damage to any bridge or culvert, strict legal action will follow. Police stations have been asked to seize all such vehicles involved in illegal operations.

The DC also directed Hindalco Industries to ensure that all company trucks must operate with properly covered bauxite loads and increase the height of vehicle racks for safety. Officers were instructed to thoroughly verify transport challans. Installation of GPS in all trucks has been made mandatory. Vehicles without a valid fitness certificate must be seized and action taken.

Senior officials present in the meeting included Additional Collector Jitendra Munda, Sub-Divisional Officer Amit Kumar, ADMO Raja Ram Prasad, along with all Circle Officers and Police Station in-charges.
