Madhya Pradesh/Damoh: Preparations are underway to settle cheetahs in Rani Durgavati Tiger Reserve in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh. It is said that the concerned department is engaged in bringing cheetahs here from Kuno. According to experts, there is a better environment here for cheetahs, which can increase their number.
Actually, Rani Durgavati Tiger Reserve is known as the largest tiger reserve in the continent of Asia. Due to the special efforts of the then Damoh MP and Tourism Culture Minister of the Government of India Prahlad Singh Patel, Damoh was gifted the largest tiger reserve in the continent of Asia. Now preparations are underway to settle cheetahs along with tigers here, which will be a big work in the field of tourism in the area.
According to A.A. Ansari, Deputy Director of Veerangana Durgavati Tiger Reserve, a team of experts is coming here to study the settlement of cheetahs. They will study the vegetation, availability of prey and the prescribed parameters.
If sources are to be believed, then about half a dozen cheetahs can be quarantined in one enclosure. Experts will study the health and nature of these quarantined cheetahs and if everything goes well, then they will be released into the forest.
