Jharkhand/Ranchi : This monsoon season in Jharkhand received 20 percent more rainfall than normal. This year, the state recorded 1113.9 mm of rain, compared to the expected 927.9 mm. This information was provided by the Meteorological Department on Wednesday.
Among the districts in Jharkhand that recorded the highest rainfall, East Singhbhum recorded 59 percent more rainfall than normal. It recorded 1584.8 mm of rain, compared to the expected 994.9 mm. Saraikela Kharsawan recorded 52 percent more rainfall than normal, Ranchi 50 percent more rainfall, Latehar 40 percent more rainfall, and Dhanbad district recorded 35 percent more rainfall than normal.
The southwest monsoon is departing from Jharkhand and across the country. Despite this, heavy monsoon rains are being experienced.
According to the Meteorological Department, strong winds (up to 30 to 40 kilometers per hour) are expected in various districts of Jharkhand on September 18th. There is also a possibility of lightning. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding this.
On Wednesday, Ranchi and surrounding areas experienced clear weather throughout the morning, but heavy rain began in the afternoon. The rain caused a drop in temperatures.
In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall of 79.2 mm was recorded in Gudabandha, East Singhbhum district. Ranchi recorded 23.6 mm of rainfall during this period.
During the last 24 hours, the highest temperature in the state was recorded in Jagannathpur, East Singhbhum, at 32.1 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature was recorded in Latehar at 20.7 degrees Celsius.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in Ranchi was recorded at 27 degrees, in Jamshedpur at 31.4 degrees, in Daltonganj at 31.8, in Bokaro at 31.5 degrees and in Chaibasa at 32.2 degrees Celsius.
