New Delhi: Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday that according to the World Economic Forum (WEF), India's unemployment rate has come down to just two percent, which is the lowest among G-20 countries.
Mandaviya said this while addressing the gathering on the occasion of signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Labor and Employment and 'Mentor Together' and 'Quicker' to enhance the employability and employment opportunities of youth on the National Career Service (NCS) portal. This MoU was signed in the presence of Union Labor and Employment Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Union Minister of State for Labor and Employment Shobha Karandlaje.

The minister said that India's rapid economic growth has been accompanied by job creation in various sectors and several schemes including the Pradhan Mantri Vikassheel Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) have contributed to this.
He said at the signing of MoU between the ministry and digital platform 'Mentor Together' and online site 'Quikr' that the aim of this MoU is to increase the employability of youth along with job opportunities on the National Career Service (NCS) portal. Mandaviya said that with the help of these partnerships, proper guidance and employment opportunities will be available to job seekers.
He highlighted how India's rapid economic growth has been accompanied by job creation in various sectors, and also mentioned government schemes that contributed in this direction. Mandaviya said, "With around 52 lakh registered employers, 5.79 crore job seekers and over 7.22 crore vacancies, the National Career Service (NCS) platform is now evolving as a one-stop solution for not only providing job listings but also for all employment-related services. Currently, there are over 44 lakh active vacancies on the portal.
In the last one year, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has signed MoUs with ten major organisations including Amazon and Swiggy. Around five lakh vacancies have been made available so far through partnerships with these companies."
