Jharkhand/Ranchi: Blind Folded Run for Vision was organized in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi on Monday under the joint aegis of Eye Donation Awareness Club and Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank. The program organized on the occasion of 40th fortnight of National Eye Donation at Saint Xavier's College campus was inaugurated by the state's Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore.
On this occasion, the Finance Minister inspired people by filling the oath form for eye donation. In his address, he said that eye donation is a great donation. If a small act of ours gives life to someone, then everyone should do that work. With this thought, today I intend to lead by filling the form related to eye donation. He also honored 30 families who donated eyes after death.
On this occasion, Dr. Bharti Kashyap said that this is the seventh consecutive Blind Fold Run and the 23rd Run for Vision. So far, Kashyap Memorial Eye Bank has done 1015 eye transplants, including 490 transplants in the last 5 years. He said that one crore people die every year in the country, but only 50 thousand corneas are available, whereas the need is of 2.5 lakh people. It is necessary to remove the misconceptions spread about eye donation.
After the Blind Fold Run, an eye donation awareness rally was taken out. The winners were felicitated by I-Deck President Anuj Sinha, Dr. B.P. Kashyap, Padma Shri Mukund Nayak and many dignitaries. Many dignitaries including hundreds of students of Saint Xavier's College, Ursuline Inter College, NSS were present in the program.
Before this, Dr. Bibhuti Kashyap gave a vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to everyone for making the eye donation awareness campaign a success.
