India's total coal production increased to 69.75 million tonnes (provisional) in July 2026, a 7.51% increase compared to the same period last year. Coal supply also increased by 17.34% to 86.33 million tonnes. Coal India Limited (CIL) produced 50.35 million tonnes and supplied 63.67 million tonnes of coal in July. The Coal Ministry stated that this increase in production and supply is a significant achievement towards strengthening the country's energy security and reducing dependence on imports.
