Administration busy in bringing Chardham Yatra back on track after monsoon's departure


Uttarakhand/Uttarkashi: After the disaster in the district during the monsoon season, the administration has once again started preparations for the Chardham Yatra.

On Wednesday, District Magistrate Prashant Arya talked to journalists in the Collectorate auditorium. The District Magistrate said that after the Dharali disaster, the journey to Gangotri Dham has started from last Tuesday. But due to the obstruction of the Yamunotri National Highway at many places, if the journey to Yamunotri Dham goes well, then it will be started soon from 13 September.

He said that the livelihood of most of the people of Uttarkashi district depends on the Chardham Yatra. The District Magistrate said that in view of the weather and road conditions, passengers are being sent to Gangotri Dham in limited numbers. At present, Gangotri National Highway Dharasu, Nalupani, Helgugad, Dabrani are sensitive places. Where landslides are happening intermittently, due to which the traffic system also gets disrupted.

In view of security, adequate machinery and teams have been deployed to clear the road in the said places. At the same time, efforts will be made to restart the Yamunotri Dham Yatra by next week. The District Magistrate said that the Yamunotri National Highway is damaged near Jangalchatti, Banas, Phoolchatti. About 150 meters of road was destroyed in Jangalchatti. The work of securing and leveling it is in progress.

Similarly, about 40 meters of road has collapsed in Banas and the road is also damaged in Phoolchatti, which is being tried hard by NH to clear by September 12.

The District Magistrate also appealed to the devotees coming on the Chardham Yatra to follow the SOP issued by the district administration for the Gangotri Dham Yatra. Let us tell you that the administration has issued SOP and pilgrims will be able to travel from Uttarkashi to Gangotri only by local vehicles.

The District Magistrate also gave the details of the pilgrims coming to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham to the media. He said that till August 5, 6 lakh 68 thousand 365 pilgrims have visited Gangotri Dham and 5 lakh 85 thousand 237 pilgrims have visited Yamunotri Dham. During this, the District Magistrate also informed the media about the relief and rescue operations in the Dharali disaster.
