Manmohan Singh awarded PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Award for Economics posthumously

New Delhi: Former Prime Minister and eminent economist Dr. Manmohan Singh has been awarded the PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Economics Award posthumously for his contribution to India's economic transformation and nation building.

The Hyderabad-based PV Narasimha Rao Memorial Institute (PVNMF) said in a statement on Wednesday that his wife Gursharan Kaur received the award in the national capital last week. The award was presented by Montek Singh Ahluwalia, former Deputy Chairman of the erstwhile Planning Commission and Distinguished Fellow of the Center for Social and Economic Progress. PVNMF President K Ramachandra Murthy and General Secretary Madhamchetty Anil Kumar were also present on the occasion.

The PVNMF had instituted this award to recognize outstanding contributions in economics.
