Proposed MMDR Amendment Bill 2026 is an Economic Blow to Jharkhand: Deepika Pandey Singh
Ranchi, August 13, 2026: Rural Development, Rural Works and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh has opposed the proposed MMDR Amendment Bill 2026, terming it an attempt to weaken Jharkhand’s rights and revenue from its mineral resources.
She said revenue collected through the JMBL Cess is being used for education, healthcare, rural development, drinking water, social security and development of mining-affected areas. The Minister said it is unjust to restrict the financial powers of mineral-rich states like Jharkhand.
Deepika Pandey Singh asserted that the Congress and the alliance government will oppose the proposed amendment at every level in the interest of Jharkhand.
