Private hospitals have a deadline of August 30 to implement ABDM; action will be taken if they fail to comply: Civil Surgeon Dr. Amrendra Prasad
Ranchi: Under the chairmanship of Civil Surgeon Dr. Amrendra Prasad, an important workshop was held with private hospitals on the effective implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) in the auditorium of Sadar Hospital, Ranchi on Wednesday. Representatives from major private hospitals in Ranchi district participated in the workshop. The objective of the program was to accelerate the implementation of digital health services in all private hospitals in the district and to effectively implement the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
Joint Director of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, Jharkhand, Rajan Kumar, Capacity Building Officer, Dr. Ranjana Sinha, and Business Analyst and Nodal Officer, Ranchi, Rashmi Nande were also present at the workshop. Experts shared technical and operational information related to various provisions of ABDM, digital health records, ABHA ID, HMIS integration, Health Professional Registry (HPR), and the digital health ecosystem.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Amarendra Prasad directed all private hospitals to begin using ABDM-Enabled HMIS within the next 15 days. He stated that the installation and use of ABDM-Enabled HMIS must be ensured in all private hospitals by August 30, 2026. Necessary action will be taken against institutions that do not comply within the stipulated timeframe, as per applicable regulations.
The workshop also stated that all hospitals must create an ABHA ID for every patient visiting their OPD and IPD and link it to their digital health records. Hospitals affiliated with PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana) were warned that failing to have an ABDM-Enabled HMIS could impact future payments under the scheme.
Experts provided detailed training to hospital representatives on processes related to ABHA ID, Health Record Linkage, HPR (Health Professional Registry), and the digital health ecosystem. District Data Manager Sanjay Tiwari also provided detailed information on various aspects of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission during the workshop.
It was also clarified at the workshop that registration with the Health Facility Registry (HFR) and Health Professional Registry (HPR) is mandatory for all private hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics in the district. Institutions that do not complete their HPR registration will not have their registration renewed under the Clinical Establishments Act (CEA).
At the end of the program, Dr. Tava Rijivi, Ayushman Nodal Officer of Sadar Hospital, thanked all participants and appealed for active cooperation from private hospitals for the successful implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
