Government's action mode on Heatwave: Timing of schools changed on the initiative of Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, children got relief

Ranchi:  In view of the severe heat and increasing heat wave in Jharkhand, the state government has taken a big step for the safety of school children. On the sensitivity and initiative of Health and Disaster Management Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, the Education Department has changed the timings of all the schools in the state. This new rule will be effective in the entire state from April 21, 2026.

Quick action after Minister's 'Yellow Alert'

It is noteworthy that in view of the rising temperature, Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari had issued 'Yellow Alert' in the entire state yesterday. He had given clear instructions that the health of children is the top priority of the government and school timings should be reduced to protect them from the scorching heat. On this instruction of the Minister, the School Education and Literacy Department issued a formal order today.

What is the new timing of schools?

According to the order issued, the following timings will be applicable to all government, non-government and private schools in the state:

* KG to Class 8:** 7:00 am to 11:30 am.

* Class 9 to 12:** 7:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Teachers and other school staff have been instructed to perform non-academic work during the post-vacation period.

Parents expressed gratitude

Parents and common citizens have heaved a sigh of relief with this quick decision of the government. People say that it was risky for children to return from school in the scorching afternoon sun, which the government realized in time. Expressing gratitude to Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari, parents have termed this step as a responsible and sensitive decision towards the health of children.

Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari has also directed the officials of the Health and Disaster Management Department to remain on alert, so that a close watch can be kept on the ill effects caused by the heat.
