89-Year-Old Woman, Troubled by Unissued Land Receipts Since 2013, Pleads for Help; Follows Up Written Complaint with Phone Call
Ranchi: Mani Devi, an 89-year-old resident of Ratu Road and former principal of the Government Teacher Training College, Hazaribagh, has been struggling with the problem of unissued land receipts since 2013. Despite her advanced age and poor health, which makes it extremely difficult for her to move around, she has been forced to visit various government offices for years. Mani Devi says that going to the Circle Office is now almost impossible for her, and the inability to obtain the receipt online has only compounded her difficulties.
The victim stated that she had filed a written complaint with the concerned office, but no concrete action was taken. The former Circle Officer dismissed the matter by saying, "When everyone else's receipts are issued, yours will be too," which deeply disappointed the elderly woman. She says that she has been given the same response for years, and the problem remains unresolved.
Recently, seeing the proactive approach of Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri, Mani Devi presented her problem at the public grievance redressal forum (Janata Darbar). Her concerns were heard, and she was assured of a solution and advised to visit the Circle Office. She then went to the Circle Office and submitted another application. She also contacted the Circle Officer by phone and explained her problem in detail.
The current Circle Officer of Hehal Circle, Ghanshyam Kumar, stated over the phone that office work is currently affected due to the ongoing municipal elections. He assured her that after the election process is complete, her case will be given priority and resolved quickly when she visits the Circle Office.
The elderly woman, Mani Devi, has appealed to the administration to adopt a humane and sensitive approach and provide her with swift justice so that she does not have to repeatedly visit government offices.
