Union Budget Reflects Centre’s Insensitivity and Discriminatory Approach Towards Jharkhand:Vinod Kumar Pandey
Ranchi: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha Central General Secretary Vinod Kumar Pandey has termed the Union Budget 2026–27 as a document exposing the central government’s insensitivity and discriminatory attitude towards Jharkhand. He said that despite being a mineral-rich state and contributing significantly to the national economy, Jharkhand has once again been ignored in the budget, while neighbouring BJP-ruled states continue to receive special benefits.
Pandey alleged that coal companies owe more than ₹1.36 lakh crore to Jharkhand, but the budget offers no roadmap for clearing these dues. He also pointed out that the additional financial burden on the state due to the MGNREGA 60:40 expenditure ratio and the annual loss of thousands of crores caused by GST rationalisation have been completely overlooked.
He further said that key sectors such as agriculture, irrigation, tourism, education, health and infrastructure have been neglected. No new railway lines, trains or concrete initiatives for farmers, workers, women and youth have been announced. Calling the budget disappointing for Jharkhand, Pandey demanded equal and fair treatment for all states.
