Amit Shah launches India's first cooperative taxi service 'Bharat Taxi'; now drivers will be the owners

New Delhi: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah formally launched India's first cooperative-based taxi service, 'Bharat Taxi', in New Delhi. Under this historic initiative, the ownership of the taxis will not be with a large company, but with the drivers themselves.

Amit Shah stated that in this service, based on the Amul model, the drivers will be the real owners. The company will give 80% of the profits directly to the drivers, and no commission will be deducted from their earnings. For women's safety, there will be a special 'Sarathi Didi' window where female passengers will be picked up by female drivers.

To strengthen this initiative, agreements (MoUs) have been signed with 9 major institutions, including SBI, IFFCO, and Delhi Metro. Under this, drivers will receive free health insurance of ₹5 lakh, easy loans, and benefits from the e-Shram portal. Currently launched in Delhi-NCR and Gujarat, this service will expand across the entire country in the next 3 years.
