Second phase of nationwide agitation against amended Pension Act to begin from 15 December

Addressing the inaugural session, State Secretary M. Z. Khan stated that the Government of India, through the Finance Bill on 25 March 2025, amended the Pension Act 1972/2021 and deprived existing pensioners of the benefits of the 8th Pay Commission. He said that widespread protests are underway across the country.
He informed that under the banner of the Forum of Civil Pensioners Association, several activities—including human chains, state-level conventions and dharna at Jantar Mantar—were organised between July and October. A writ petition challenging the amendment was filed in the High Court on 16 October.
Second Phase: Email/Postcard Campaign from 15 December
The State Secretary announced that the second phase of the agitation will begin on 15 December. Under this movement, emails and postcards will be sent to the Hon’ble Prime Minister raising three major demands:
- Withdrawal of the amendment to the Pension Act
- Correction in the terms of amendment
- Addition of the pension revision clause and implementation of the 8th Pay Commission from January 2026
The nationwide protest will continue till February with state/district conventions, human chains, dharna at Jantar Mantar and submission of memoranda to MPs. If the government does not withdraw the amendment, the third phase of agitation will be announced.
